Below are the facts you need to know about the 2021 Nov/Dec extended registration deadline.

Closing date for Nov/Dec late registration

So why am I saying that even after the normal closing date for Nov/Dec late registration, WAEC is very likely going to keep shifting the late registration for 2021 Nov/Dec WASSCE well into November (and maybe, beyond)?

Here are my reasons for predicting that the 2021 Nov/Dec extended registration deadline is likely to go beyond September and possibly into November, 2021.

Faster, paperless Nov/Dec registration process

Because with the coming of the super-fast, almost paperless Nov/Dec registration process LINK TO HOW TO REGISTER the folks at WAEC have not shied away from making their Nov/Dec extended registration deadline come very close to the date for starting the Nov/Dec exams.

Covid-19 disruptions

The devastating effects of the pandemic especially in the past year are still with us. The academic calendars of the various educational institutions have not been spared at all. For that matter, WAEC have been forced to adjust the schedules for all its activities. This, of course, includes the date for the start of the 2021 Nov/Dec WASSCE registration. Don’t also forget about the likelihood of a very late date for starting the Nov/Dec examination itself.

FYI. School candidates from the various Senior High Schools in Ghana, for example, have already had their normal May/June WASSCE time table moved to September/October 2021.

It is only natural that, if the date for the normal Nov/Dec registration started very late, WAEC would have to extend the normal closing date. And that will, in effect, affect the regular late registration period and, by extension, we can only expect the extra-late WASSCE Nov/Dec extended registration to sometime close to the end of the year 2021.

Here comes another reason you must expect the Nov/Dec extended registration deadline to go beyond September this year.

Repeated extra-late Nov/Dec extended registration deadlines

For the fourth time in a row, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) extended its late WASSCE registration for private candidates in Ghana.

The extended registration deadline for the 2020 exam was well beyond the original late registration period.

In fact, the deadline for the Nov/Dec registration for that year finally settled on 21st September, 2020.

For example, this is what happened in 2019. And it’s gonna happen in 2021 simply because of the Covid-19 disruptions I spoke about earlier.

For the 2019 WASSCE for private candidates’ registration (just as it was the case in 2017 and 2018) the late registration deadline was shifted to 12th August 2019.

Then much later, the registration deadline was again extended to close to the end of August 2019.

This move was supposed to, among others, enable fresh Senior High School graduates to grab the opportunity to better their grades following the release of their results during the month.

Now that you know my reasons for suggesting that the WASSCE 2021 Nov/Dec extended registration deadline is likely going to be somewhere around the end of the year, let me show you some other scenarios you must be expecting.

I will advise that you try as much as you can to register early. Do it within the normal registration period as soon as you know the date for the 2021 Nov/Dec registration.

Let’s assume that your plans didn’t work out. You can now find out if this extra-late extension of the WAEC/WASSCE Nov/Dec will work for you. If the extended registration deadline is still available then you’re good to go.
