2007 WAEC Literature Questions and Answers

This post contains the complete set of 2007 WAEC Literature questions and answers. They are the objective questions for the 2007 WAEC/WASSCE General Knowledge of Literature section in the West African Examinations Council Literature-in-English syllabus.

Here comes an important question: What is General Knowledge of Literature in the WAEC/SHS Literature syllabus?

The General Knowledge of Literature segment of the WAEC/WASSCE Literature objective test paper assesses candidates’ ability to identify and appreciate an author’s use of figures of speech and other literary techniques in any literary text. This could be prose, drama or poetry.

For that matter, you are expected to provide correct answers to multiple-choice objective questions on such literary techniques as metaphor, allusion, irony and alliteration.

Other aspects of literary appreciation that come up in the General Knowledge of Literature test are tone, rhythm, mood, structure, theme and plot analysis and characterization.

This is why you will find in some WAEC Literature past question papers that this part goes by the title General Questions on Literary Appreciation.

Usually, immediately following the General Knowledge of Literature section are questions on Unseen Prose and Unseen Poetry.

You will see all these types of Literature theory questions in all WAEC Literature question papers. These obviously include the 2007 WAEC Literature questions and answers you are about to see.
