Can you tell me why many high achievers hate traditional education? I mean the kind of schooling that you and I faithfully underwent and have completed or are about to complete.

Why is it that a large proportion of people known to have done well for themselves are also known to have dropped out of school?
Who will give me one reason why many successful people in their youth tended to have little time for the kind of stuff traditional school set out to impart to them?
Why is it also that such people generally described as self-made men and women are not usually your regular A-grade academic prodigies?
How come most of the world’s most successful enterpreneurs are rather those who fall within the average and below average bracket – going by the standards of traditional schools’ rating systems?
And what is it that makes it so easy for these high achievers in real life to perform that spectacularly? How is it that people like Robert Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad know how to get the results where it matters most in spite of their deep-seated distrust for traditional school learning?
These questions have been on my mind of late. This is why I set out to find answers to some of them. And lo and behold, here are the answers I’ve been able to dig out.
1. High achievers see education differently
Most high achievers take education to mean something quite different than what the rest of us see it.
For the men and women who refused to spend too much time within the walls of a traditional classroom, self-education is a more potent ingredient for a successful life than school education.

There is only thing that sets the high achievers apart from the low achievers. It is simply that the former believe very strongly that traditional education is often a barrier to developing one’s talents and potential. The curriculum of the typical formal school has failed to adequately train learners in readiness for the ultimate goal of creating and managing wealth.
Highly creative individuals have proven, time without number, that what you learn on the street is what really takes you far in the game of life.
2. Highly creative individuals think rote learning is useless.
One factor responsible for the massive success achieved by most entrepreneurs is their capacity to commit to lifelong learning.
These high achievers learn as much as they can. Highly creative people are never tired of learning.
But if you ask them they would tell you, without mincing words, that the kind of rote learning found in the traditional school system is of little value to them.
To the serious person that thirsts to make a difference in the world, rote learning is a huge disincentive. They often question the practice of memorizing theories which they hardly understand just for the sake of scoring high marks in an examination.
At the end of the day, this is one thing that drives many entrepreneurial individuals out of the traditional school system before they begin to go nuts
3. High achievers think formal education depletes their creative energies.
Why is this so? It is because learners are not given the freedom to think creatively.They are denied the opportunity to try new methods. They cannot sidestep established rules test their own ideas to make mistakes and learn from them.
Highly creative people love their freedom to think and explore. They hate any system which forces them to conform to old ways of doing things. This explains why they’re often forced to leave school prematurely.
4. High achievers value practical skill learning more.
High achievers tend to place a higher premium on practical knowledge acquisition than paper qualifications.
Highly successful business people may be holders of a chain of college degrees or high school dropouts. But one thing they have in common is this.They actively search for as much practical knowledge as they can acquire.
So, for those who managed to earn academic qualifications, the knowledge acquired in the process is what matters. It is not the paper representation of that achievement.
That is why you will find them becoming self-employed individuals, entrepreneurs and business owners.
5. Their greatest passion is how to change the world.
So when they look at what formal education has to offer them, they feel disappointed.

High achievers are consumed by the desire to come up with ideas suitable for solving today’s problems.
They would rather go out and look for ways to shape the future. They don’t feel at ease remaining part of an education system which only teaches how to list problems.
A system whose main focus is about the causes of problems without actively pushing learners to search for innovative solutions to them isn’t for them.
6. Traditional schools refuse to teach money
The high achievers can’t understand why the traditional school system does not teach the making and management of money.
Highly successful individuals are scarcely inspired by the sight of too many otherwise “brilliant” students who become total losers in the actual game of life.
To them, traditional education only ends up impoverishing the most outstanding academic achievers. For that matter, there must be something terribly wrong with it.
That is why they look for answers elsewhere. And they usually find them.
To wrap it up
It may sound funny but it’s an unpleasant truth. Many highly creative individuals, during their time spent in school thought their teachers were zombies.
Learners with the potential of becoming high achievers cannot understand why educational authorities have this slavish attachment to outdated methods.They are perplexed to see this as being the norm other than the exception.
Their question is this: why should this be the case? The world out there is in dire need of innovative thinkers. So why not train people to apply creative approaches to solve the mounting problems of the world?
Let there be change
There is an urgent need for a C-change in the way the formal school system operates. If not, you and I are likely to continue hearing this familiar story. The story of entrepreneurial individuals who dropped out of school in order to make their dream to change the world become a reality.
